Wild Art Dolls was created by me, Aisling D’Art, partly to share my own art dolls and doll ideas.

It’s a website about art dolls and figures of all kinds, made with all kinds of materials.

They tend to be more fabulous & zany than cute & sweet.

Originally, many of these articles were at my main artsy website, Aisling.net.  Then, around 2006, when I had about 500 articles at that site (I’m not kidding), I split off a bunch of topic-specific websites. This was one of them.

However, as I changed website designs every few years, a bunch of the articles were left on the “to do” list and never made an appearance at this domain.

I’m fixing that, gradually.  I’m also trying to backdate the articles so you have a vague idea of when they first appeared.  So, it’s a good idea to check the sitemap now & then, to find articles (and dolls) you haven’t seen before.

Wild Art Dolls is also the name of the Yahoo Group that I founded in 2001.  It’s still at Yahoo Groups, and I’m still the moderator / listmom.

If you’re interested in art dolls, you’re invited to join the group.  It’s been quiet for awhile, because I was busy winding down some non-art pursuits that have kept me busy for the past few years.

Starting in 2012, expect a lot more dolls… a lot more wild dolls.

And, as I said about ten years ago:

Make dolls! Make LOTS of dolls. Make lots of WILD dolls. Give them names and lives. Enjoy their companionship. Place dolls in highly inappropriate places. Chuckle. And then go make more dolls!

 About Aisling D’Art

Aisling D’Art isn’t my real name.  It’s the pen name I adopted when I was one of the first people ever to put a diary online.  That was in 1995, before the word “blog” was used, and when people like me (and Eliza “Elli” Metz, another early blogger) were considered weird.

I used a pen name for privacy.  I mean, I was talking about my life.  I changed everyone’s name in my online diary, including my own.

In my online diary — which started as a GeoCities site (SoHo 6708) — I often talked about my artwork. After awhile, people started asking to see that artwork, so I photographed it and scanned it, and put some samples online.

Soon, my GeoCities website was actually an art website more than an online diary, and as soon as I could figure out how to register a domain (over  $100/year, back then) and have it hosted (very pricey then, as well), Aisling.net began.

And, thanks to the Internet, I became better known as an artist under my pen name.  That’s been a little weird to deal with, at times, but most people understand, once I explain this to them.

Anyway, that’s some of the backstory to this website, to “Aisling D’Art,” and my adventures with wild art dolls and other forms of art.

Yes, the fine print is very boring... but required by law. *sigh*

Our reviews are as honest and as unbiased as we can make them.

If you click on our links and visit the resulting site, a temporary cookie may result in us receiving a commission IF you purchase a product on the other end. This is a legitimate way to monetize and pay for the operation of web sites and we gladly reveal our affiliate relationships to you.

In addition we fully disclose that hyperlinks on this site may be shortened, and in some cases cloaked to hide long ugly links that include a reference to this website. We have nothing to hide and we are proud of our relationship with the fine vendors, products and services found on this site. Link tracking, shortening and cloaking is a common practice on web sites.

Further, we do not receive physical products — except for the occasional review copy — and no cash directly in exchange for any reviews or posts you find on this site.

No one has paid us to do reviews or posts. We have to tell you that it’s possible that our reviews and posts are influenced by our affiliate relationships and may create a conflict of interest.

We like what we like, whether an affiliate relationship exists or not. However, we try to report honestly and without bias.

We do not believe a conflict of interest exists, but you, the visitor or customer, must decide by considering our affiliate relationships. Due diligence is always recommended when making any purchase.

Obviously we would like you to buy the service or products we like and write about, and we are influenced by that fact.

  • We avoid conflict by only reviewing or mentioning products and services we trust.
  • We strive to always give our honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences on topics or products we write about and promote.

The stories on our website are anecdotal. They’re based on our own experiences and on discussions with product users. There is no guarantee that your experience will be the same.
